Ready, Set, GO!

Finally!  Just in the last seconds of January too!

The Lazer Sheep Yarns Etsy Shop is open for business!!!

Super excited, but that’s not what’s been keeping me from posting though 😛 it’s been succulent center pieces,

I’ve been hijacked by the wedding brigade and am also working hard on the shower and bachelorette party prep.  Hopefully I’ll be able to keep up with things here, and maybe even get in some Christmas knitting! (haha)

Hope everyone enjoys the shop, and please let me know if you have any suggestions, or colorways you would like to see 🙂  (It’s sparse now, but more will be added as soon as there’s time to dye up some more yarn.)

Happy knitting!

And Then…. Distraction!

I’ve found myself distracted from my distraction.  My sister is getting married in March and, considering how much of it we’re doing ourselves, it’s crunch time!  I’ve been playing the bad guy to get my sister to make some tough decisions about dresses and decorations (I love her, but she’s having a hard time with the decision-making).  I may have also just hijacked the center pieces…

The center piece hijacking is really our brother’s fault.  He got me a terrarium for Christmas.  Then last week we went to the cute little shop where he got it, so I could pick out my plants.  The shop is called Pigment (the website lists furniture and stuff, but the shop is smaller than that).  It’s super cute and had a ton of terrarium supplies!  I managed to put this together for myself…

(Please ignore my barren back yard.  It doesn’t get much sun, and it’s really only used for the pups to poop in.  We’re trying to change that.)

My sister saw my it and thought it would make a cute center piece, so I ran with it.  She already had a bunch of mason jars, so we’re going to use them to make mini terrariums!  We got a bunch of cute succulents from Pigment, and a handful from Home Depot 😡 to fill in.

I love the variety!

I might have a slight obsession, which I’m happily passing on to my sister!  😀  Of corse, because of this new obsession, the little booties for the Little Sheep, look like this *blush*

Temptation

Now that I’ve aired all my unfinished objects out in the open… I’d really like to skip most of them.  At least until I’ve knit myself a pair of these.  I’ve become obsessed with knitting a pair of baby booties for Little Sheep.  One that she can really wear.  I did knit her a pair, exactly one year ago today.  I had just found out I was pregnant, but my husband was out-of-town for the weekend.  I had to keep that to myself for 5 DAYS!!!  To keep myself from spilling the beans to passers-by, I knit these.

booties

I used a multi colored, wool sock yarn I picked up on the fly from Michael’s, and this easy Magic Slippers pattern from Ravelry.

When my husband finally made it home, I presented them to him, to tell him we were pregnant 🙂  Still gives me the warm and fuzzies just thinking about it.

Anyway, Little Sheep never really wore those.  I wanted to keep them in good shape, for a scrap-book or something.  Plus they only really would have fit her in October, which is never a terribly cold month in Southern California.  Of corse now we’re colder than some places back East!  50’s during the day, 30’s at night!  Unheard of!  The Californians are freezing out here!  Little Sheep’s baby socks aren’t cutting it any more, so I think I’ll give into temptation and knit the new booties.  For my daughter’s well-being of corse.

Also, I’ve dyed up some wonderfully pink stuff for my Etsy shop, and I can’t very well sell it when I haven’t tried it out myself now can I?  So the decision is made!  Baby Booties!  Colorway “Stuck-in-Gum Sheep”!

Consider this a sneak peek into the Lazer Sheep hand dyed collection that will be available later this month.  I’m super excited about it!  Every colorway has its own sheep, with its own little personality 😀  Hopefully I’ll be adding buttons with the individual sheep on them at a later date.  For the time being I just need to finish up a few tiny things on the shop before it’s opened.  Anyone have suggestions for colorways they’d like to see in the future?

And the Holiday Sweatshop Continues

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday season, and a happy new year!

We had fun playing with the lights :)

We had fun playing with the lights 🙂

While I did finish a fair amount of knit gifts, including that sweet Santa hat Little Sheep is modeling for us (It was a simple 2X2 rim hat, where I put 3 rows between each decrease row.  And obviously, change colors accordingly, and add a fun pom-pom on top!), the holidays continue on at our house in the form of unfinished objects.

Still on the needles:  two cowls

I swear that's black yarn

I swear that’s black yarn

This one is being worked flat, with a seed stitch border.  When it’s done I’m going to sew the ends together, and attach some BIG buttons.  Not useful buttons mind you, just satisfyingly HUGE ones 😀

SAM_0433This cowl is knit in the same Swirl Hat pattern I’ve used before.  The only difference… instead of decreases, I’ll just put a few more rows of 2X2 rib.  Done!  (It’s also showing off my prototype Lazer Sheep stitch marker!)

One scarf

SAM_0435

This is a special scarf for my husband.  I sprung for some super soft baby alpaca.  Should have enough to make a matching hat as well.  I just stuck a basic cable in the middle.  My husband is a man, and his scarf should be manly as well.  No frilly stuff here.

One pair of fingerless gloves

SAM_0427

These I found on Ravelry, for my Dr. Who obsessed friend.  The pattern, The Oncoming Storm! They are modeled after the Daleks, villains in the show.

You’d think being home all the time I’d have plenty of spare time to finish up this knitting and get them off to their final destinations.  Too bad the Little Sheep doesn’t like watching the knitting needles go as much as I do.

How many projects do you have yet to finish?

***

On a totally separate note, I’m working hard to get the Lazer Sheep Etsy shop up and running this month.  The yarn is all set to go.  The stitch markers on the other hand, are slow going.  The idea is that each colorway has their own Lazer Sheep character, and I want to send a stitch marker with its character out with each hank of yarn.  Through trial and error, I have a few ideas.  Hopefully I can get enough of them done to be ready to ship with this batch of yarn.  Since I’ve managed to hijack my parents’ computer, I’ll try to keep updated.  (I’m here every other day for laundry any how.)
